spring breeakk
For spring break I went to Panama City with a bunch of friends. I had been before but this time was different without any adults. I spent 6 hours in the car on the way there and my room mate received a speeding ticket but the cop was extremely nice and cut it down. When we reached panama we were a little disappointed because the air was chilly so we knew the water would be cold. Panama was lined with nothing but hotels and tourist attractions. The synthetic world covers the natural world along that whole strip, despite the beach. Since my friends and I are broke college kids, we were not able to eat out a lot. However when we did, the food was very bland and had no culture at all. Even my friend's "New Orleans-style po-boy" was a joke. I think even the waitress said Panama was not some place you'd like to live, just visit. However, we did go out a lot. The culture was very different in the clubs. There was a lot of techno, paid dancers, expensive drinks, high entrance fees, and people who really couldn't dance. The beach was my favorite part. Even when my friends wouldn't go in because it was too cold, I went anyway. I made some random friends from Georgia and went out far in the beach water with them. Even the beach was crowded and pretty much unnatural. The line of condos, boats, lawn chairs, random pieces of trash found in the sand etc. took away from the beach.
